The number of public charging stations is growing rapidly, giving EV drivers more options for powering up on the go.

With our guide below, you can make sure you understand how and where to charge your Porsche EV so you can take on any adventure with ease.

What is an EV Charging Station?

Drivers can easily recharge their vehicle at an EV charging station. EV charging stations are conveniently located in public areas and can even be installed in homes or businesses. Usually, using an EV charging station requires a credit or debit card, but there are free EV charging stations available. Once the payment is processed, simply plug in your electric vehicle and wait for it to recharge. EV charging apps are available to simplify the process; drivers can search for nearby stations, reserve a spot ahead of time and review pricing.

Level 1 Charger

Level 1 charging provides a lower voltage, making it the slowest charging option of the three. This type of charging involves connecting an electric vehicle to a standard residential 120-volt AC outlet. Level 1 charging takes about 40-50+ hours to recharge a battery from zero percent to 80 percent of its capacity.1

Level 2 Charger

Level 2 electric vehicle charging stations offer faster charge times than Level 1 chargers. Public locations often offer Level 2 chargers, and professional electricians can install Level 2 wallbox chargers in homes. Level 2 electric vehicle charging stations can recharge an EV from zero to 80 percent in anywhere from four to 10 hours.1

DC Fast Chargers

DC Fast Chargers, also known as Level 3 chargers, are a powerful type of public charging station. This type of charger can power an EV battery from zero to 80 percent in as little as 20 minutes or up to an hour.1
